Which hearing aid is right for me?

Hearing aids come in all shapes and sizes, from discreet, invisible hearing aids that are worn deep in the ear canal, to the most powerful in-ear or behind-the-ear hearing aids. At Dublin Hearing Aid Centre we will help you decide what is best for you.

Discreet miniature hearing aids

The smallest most discreet hearing aids rest in the second bend of the ear canal, where virtually nobody can see them.
We can achieve surprisingly good results even on severe hearing loss with these hearing aids.

Because they are worn deep in the ear canal, they are closer to the eardrum which improves the efficiency a lot. Also, because the microphone is within the ear canal, they make the most of the unique directional sound pick up properties on the external ear or Pinna.

Powerful In-the-ear instruments

In-The-Ear (ITE hearing aids) can be made in two styles or sizes, one that fills most of the outer ear (full shell), and one that fills only the lower portion of the outer ear (half shell).

Suitable for virtually all types of hearing loss, we can accommodate even the most powerful amplifiers and all of the available accessories for hearing aids.

over-the-ear hearing aids

A small ‘over the ear’ hearing aid, sometimes known as a RIC can provide an instant solution for most hearing losses.

The speaker of the hearing aid (the receiver) is worn in the ear canal. (Receiver In Canal, RIC). Like a custom ‘in-ear’ hearing aid, because the speaker is nearer to the eardrum, the power transfer is more efficient.

Also, because the speaker is not enclosed in the device, these hearing aids tend to be a lot smaller than conventional hearing aids.

With a powerful custom speaker in the ear, we can fit these hearing aids to a lot of the most profound hearing losses.
